Empty Chairs is a film community and publishing place established in 2013 by Kristoffer Hegnsvad and Peter Alsted. Joined by a group of creatives from different corners of Denmark, Empty Chairs is a community of directors, writers, producers, editors, art directors, musicians, and sound designers who strive to tell compelling stories from around the world.
Empty Chairs is inspired by those who live life out of the ordinary. Among others, the American philosopher and writer Henry David Thoreau who immersed himself in nature and spent two years living a simple life at Walden Pond. In his cabin he had three chairs: "One for solitude, two for friendship, three for society."
